lyrics

young man holding court with an audience. he's so well-accustomed to gaudiness that he sees no irony in insisting he's the most worthy of their derision. between the wave and the bow he is transformed into the sacred cow. young man lashing out for attention. he tried to leave out all pretension but now misanthropic tendencies creep into his art and his appeal is weakened. he mops his brow and speaks of the grave injustice of how he can never book a show with the right folks and he doesn't get the respect he deserves and more people should bow at the power of his words. he fortifies himself with hollow self affirmations but he can't seem to get it together, and the mirror never tells any lies so the painted clown will cavort onstage, tears flowing from sunken eyes. if he cannot make these people love him, he damn sure will make them pay the price. throw it away. throw out the good will you've earned and make these fuckers pay. they never put his ass on the cover but he always put his ass on the line and eventually it's gonna be his time.
