they paved paradise and put up a parking lot. then they paved the parking lot and put up a bigger parking lot. they topped that fucker off with an artisan chocolate shop, now you can't afford a snickers bar and can't afford to park. they closed the gallery and opened a condo mall. now every resident has got all the paintings from the gallery on their walls. this land has been reclaimed a thousand times before but this one hurts the most because it means the closing of my favorite store. sleep it away. gunshots replaced by the sound of mack trucks when you wake. things will turn out okay as long as you have a place to stay. they paved the burial ground and put a paradise. now the parking lot is getting auctioned off for an obscene price by candlelight. we cry for the loss of a culture that was never ours to start. the city changes face so we indignantly resolve to blow it apart. we own the land. if it no longer serves us we will be god damned. blood on the sand. let's pave the blood and start again.
